Office Fees

Office fees should be standardized and be consistently charged. Discounts for bundled programs, pre-payment can be included but must be offered consistently. What is billed versus what is accepted may be different amounts since contracted rates are often at lower levels than charges for services.

What is balance billing?

This is charging the client more than what is reimbursed by the insurance. When you have agreed to accept/ take assignment for the rate stated in your contract, less co-pays and deductibles, you cannot balance bill clients with insurance which you are an in-network provider.

How do you determine fees or update your organization's charge master? Check out our worksheet inside the member program for specific programs such as MDPP (Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program). The Academy also provides a valuable tool to determine return on investment.
